Weekend in California for Walker's Baptism

Well after like 20 minutes I finally figured out how to add multiple pictures at once!  What a struggle I had.  I thought I had to add one than go back.  haha nope sure didn't.. I can just add them all at once.  I will know that for next time.

So this past weekend we went to visit Tim's sister Heather and her family in Merced, California.  Our nephew Walker got baptized on Saturday.  The drive there went pretty good.  I drove the first 7 hours of the trip.  I drove for 4 and a half hours straight before I finally decided I better use the bathroom.  We stopped in this really dumpy town where we had to drive around for a few minutes trying to find a gas station. Chevron was down some random street at the end of the street of course.  We paid $3.19  for that lovely tank of gas!! I haven't paid that much in about a year I think!  I thought this better be some amazing gas we are getting.  So I still felt pretty good at this point.  It was almost 3 in the morning and I was now on my 3rd wind or something like that.  Not sure if that actually exists.  Anyway, Brigitte decided she would sit up front with me to keep me awake so that Tim could sleep and be ready to drive next.  We started the Ipod and got some good music going that was upbeat so I would be able to stay awake.  Brigitte lasted about 20 minutes and than she started head bobbing and than she was completely asleep.  I looked in the back and everyone else was also asleep.  I thought to myself,  Ok I gotta stay awake now.  So I was singing with the music and I started moving my feet up and down to stay awake.  About 15 miles before we hit Reno I decided I was done driving. I was really starting to fall asleep.  Tim started driving and I just felt sick now at this point.. I hadn't slept in almost 24 hours at this point.  So of course now that it was time for me to sleep... I couldn't.   For the rest of the drive I just stayed awake.  We arrived in Merced in just under 12 hours.

They had planned to go to Yosemite National Park that afternoon. I was being indecisive as usual and couldn't decide whether I wanted to go or not.  I didn't know when I would have a chance to go again and I have wanted to go there for awhile, but I didn't feel good at all.  At this point I had now gone like 30 or more hours without sleep.  I decided to take a shower and than I would decide after that depending on how that made me feel.  So after going back and forth for awhile and not being able to decide, I decided  I would go.  Tim decided that he would drive so that I could maybe sleep a little bit.  I think I got about 5 minutes of sleep.  Everytime I started to fall asleep, we were either stopping fast or taking a sharp turn.  That is ok... it was worth not sleeping.  I enjoyed the view as well as all of the places that we stopped.  Above are some of the pictures that were taken while in Yosemite.   The drive back down the canyon was crazy!! I have never seen so much down hill driving before in my life.  We than stopped by Trader Joe's in Fresno, where I bought some Suisse Dark Chocolate! Yummy!  At the register when we purchased the chocolate, the cashier also gave us two Reeses.  Dark chocolate ones!! Those were amazing!  We then went to dinner at a fast food place called Rally's.  Tim's Family loves this place.  It was pretty good.  The fries were really good.

We came back to Heather and Mike's place and it was time to celebrate all of the October Birthdays.  It was fun to watch all of them open there presents.  It was then time for games.  We played Hand and Foot, another favorite of the Coles family, which I love as well even though I always lose!  ha   We stayed up until just after 1am. It was so nice to go to bed.  In the morning we got ready.  Tim and I went to the store because he forgot his church clothes so he needed to get a white shirt and the rest he was borrowing from Mike.   We also went to the 99cent store and got a few things.  When we got back it was time for Walkers Baptism. Tim had the opportunity to speak on the Holy Ghost and Marcy spoke on the Baptism.  They both did a great job and brought the spirit into the meeting.  It has been awhile since I have been to a baptism.. about 3 years... wow!  I remember it was on my mission.  For a moment while I was sitting there it brought me back to my mission.  After the baptism I was walking to the car by myself and I unlocked the car and looked back.. there were 3 ladies in the car next to mine staring at me.  I smiled and they rolled down there windows and one of them said to me..."we just wanted to tell you that you are beautiful, we have been watching you and we just think you have such a great smile and are so cute. I said thank you that is very nice.  And they said, we just hope this makes your day.  Yes it did... how cute they were! ha

Family and friends all came over afterwards to Heather's to eat.  After everyone left we played Hand and Foot again.  It was a late night again... not only did we stay up until about 1:30am  but then.. Ian, Megan's son woke up very sick with a fever and was up all night crying so I didn't get much sleep.

We all woke up just before 6am to get ready to leave.  We didn't end up leaving until around 8am though.  The drive home was pretty scary!! It was pouring rain almost the entire way!  There was probably only about 2 hours of the drive that it wasn't raining.  When we were driving over Donners Pass we had some pretty scary moments.  I made Tim drive slow because I was scared.  I am pretty sure I was praying for like 12 hours straight... praying that we would all make it safely home.  So again I wasn't able to sleep the entire drive until we got to Lehi, 20 minutes away from home and I was dead asleep at this point.  I need to learn how to fall asleep in cars.
